Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study and analysis of health and disease situations in specified populations, including their distribution (who, when, and where), trends, and factors. Epidemiologists assist with research design, data gathering, statistical analysis, and findings interpretation and dissemination

Other scientific disciplines are used by epidemiologists, such as biology to better understand disease processes, statistics to make effective use of data and develop suitable findings, social sciences to better understand proximate and distal causes, and engineering to measure exposure.
